Golgotha

The birth of Golgotha

The saga began in mid 2002 when Jose Castro (Keyboardist) started to compose many songs. He was very much influenced by classical and opera music but also heavy metal and goth metal.Mixing them all together had seemed impossible, but after a while he established a sound for his music.Metal and Classical equally combined into one. Seering string melodies with heavy guitars equally working hand-in-hand. "Golgotha" was not the intentions of Jose. He started composing songs for his solo career after the refusal of a major R&B record deal. He felt as though he needed to Start recording his own material . He decided to work with his two strongest passions- Metal and Classical music.

After about a year of writing, Jose noticed something missing. He could not play piano, drums, guitars and bass alone. He then recruited his brother, Chris, on drums and they began to work together for a couple of weeks. They then met Abriel Griffin who played guitar. The three worked together for a while and settled on the name "Crown Of Thorns". In 2005,they decided to do an EP entitled Ghost.Everything was going great except the fact that Jose wrote too many songs to choose from.So they chose to do a whole album, still keeping the title “Ghost”(2006).The album,Ghost, held 15 songs. The most loved songs on the album we put onto myspace where they received thousands of plays. The songs"Lost", “Ghost”, “Far Away” and "Dreamcatcher" were 4 of the most listened to songs from the album.
About a month after the album was complete,Chris and Jose lost touch with Abriel and started a search for a new guitarist. While searching, Jose was writing songs for a follow-up for Ghost. There were many fill-ins for the recording process because the guys couldn't find anyone to replace Abriel. They decided to do the 2nd album anyway. The follow-up to Ghost was untitled for a while until Jose came up with "End Of An Era"(2007), reflecting on the past of the band and the start of a new time for the band. “End Of An Era” held 13 songs. The song,“Imaginary”, was the most listened to song on the album as well as on their myspace page. That song alone received thousands of plays and also helped them become known in their city by many. Other songs featured Kamrynn Monet and Camille Poinvil on vocals and choirs.
After the release to the 2nd album,Jose announced that he would soon be stepping down as the lead singer. He also announced that he would be auditioning Women to be the ’Frontwoman" of the band. As soon as the news hit the internet there were women all over wanting to audition. The Audition was only for 3 weeks.People sent in over 100 demos through mail and internet, but very few came to meet the guys in person. The album was recorded and released in under the name "Dawning Of A New Era"(2009).
In Fall of 2009, Jose and Chris decided to create a whole new concept for the band under a new name- Golgotha. They recorded and released  Apocalyptica with Andrew Fafalios(Lead Guitars), Rob Keizer(Rhythm Guitar),  and Kory(Bass). This album was the last to feature Jose on lead vocals, and was released in 2011. It became thier biggest success and launched thier music in a whole new direction.
In summer of 2012 Jose contacted Camille Poinvil to record a few songs for their new project and she accepted. The band ultimately made her a permenant member, as well as lead singer due to her extensive vocal abilities. That winter they prepared to record a new album. On their website they announced they were releasing an album in the end of 2013 called Out Of The Ashes, but it was released in the beginning of 2014. The album outpassed the success of "Apocalyptica". The singles released from the album were "Swim", "Asleep", "Lost In Limbo", and "I'll Reach You". "Asleep" was most successful, and next was  "Swim".

With new success of the album came new band member, Rage(guitars). Thier facebook page announced a new project in the making. "The Serpent's Score" was the working title of the new album, according to the March 2014 facbook post that was accompanied with full album art. Clips of the album were uploaded to the band's Soundcloud page summer of 2014. The album is set to release in 2015.
